I, Mary Miller-Jordan (I AM HERD two-legged), have always created motivational stories about horses in my head since a child. Every day dream was about a horse. All my toy ‘dolls’ were Breyer Horses. I did not always have a horse in my backyard, but a horse always lived in my heart and my mind.
Soon after Lindsay’s Faith and I won the America’s Favorite Trail Horse show I knew it was time. She and I had been on such a journey. Many ups and some terrible downs – but with this National “Win” it just seemed like the perfect happy ending for a motivational children’s story.
Silver Mane – The Tale of a Wild Horse features a Mustang named “Lenny”. Lindsay’s Faith is named after my Father, Lindsay, and his childhood nickname was Lenny – so this was a perfect fit.
Lenny’s character is humanized to draw in the young audience, but the book is entirely based on our true story. It is a first chapter book and includes color drawings. It is soft cover, full color, 50 pages in large print and it is written to appeal to children of all ages, even the ‘adult versions’ such as myself 🙂
Be You Lenny, the second children’s book I wrote was inspired by my daughter who was four years old at the time I wrote it. It is a beginning reader book that doubles as a coloring book!
“Lenny, you are the best Lenny that there will ever be.
Just be you Lenny and you will see.
The key to being happy is you being you and me being me.” – Be You Lenny
